Is there something wrong with Eugene lately ? I sent him payment for parts along with my toggle to have them installed over a month ago with no response by either phone or e-mail ? The gun is a family heirloom and I asked last week to just send the toggle and parts so I can repair it myself...is this normal ?

Unfortunately, yes it is normal.Eugene's M. O. is to promise a date of completion, miss it by 8 weeks, ignore all attempts to contact him until you are ready to send the black helicopters to his home, then he'll re-surface out of nowhere and give you another guaranteed date of completion. Eventually he completes the work and seems surprised that you are so upset.
I've seen it happen plenty of times...

Eugene takes too many jobs that he can't complete in what most folks consider a reasonable time. Lugerman is a one man shop.
Any time he takes to talk on the phone or read/write emails only slows down the process.

Like DJU says, it is SOP.

You will eventually get your work and pieces; may take just as long to get them finished or just returned.

There is no excuse for not returning an email in a reasonable time; but the above is the "reason".

Thanks for the response folks, puts my mind somewhat at ease. I'm just worried that I have my toggle floating out there somewhere with no recourse to get it back. Next time I'll just order the parts and do the repair myself.

It's funny how Eugene usually surfaces when someone disses him here. Maybe he'll take note and get your work done.
We do know that he is involved in some pretty big projects now and wish him success.

Don't really mean to diss anybody David, just wanted to verify his legitimacy more than anything else. Since it would take him all of 5 minutes to send back my toggle along with the parts I purchased (with the check being cashed the day he got it) I AM a bit annoyed with his sense of urgency. I understand the limitations of being a one man shop but since he claimed a 1-2 week order fulfillment for parts all I seek is what I paid for, nothing more.

The difference is you know going in two things! He does beautiful work and he he will contact you only once and that is when he's done! The difference is we all know his sometimes perceived faults but the wait is well worth the wait! Christmas shall someday arrive!

So I guess I'll just hafta wait then...

If you do a search on Lugerman on this forum, you will have a LOT of reading material, and likely much better informed/educated.

Ed was our carbine poster child. We lived though the maturation and eventual birth. Half of the excitement are the morsels of progress. Picking out shades wood for the grip and shock is like pulling back another layer on anticipation. That is why the is a "Twenty~Five" days of Christmas! Each Day Is Another Day Closer! Sometimes we go thru life, and our view, and opinions, are formed in the presence of all the modern tech that surrounds us every minute of every day. With that in mind, it is easy to see why we are frustrated when events don't occur with our plan and personal time clock. In my very limited view, and my limited skill sets, I have come to appreciate "old timey" machinist skills as an art rather that a task... If not an art, it certainly is in the gray area of high talent that surrounds such Luger quests that very rarely come around?
It is pretty much considered normal, that a true artist is usually some what eccentric, and probably the last thing in the world they possess, is the ability to run a business... At least as we would normally expect a business to run. Eugene, may or may not fit this description, but I know for sure, his skills are not available everywhere, or for that matter, anywhere?... When you build a Luger from scratch, you ARE DWM, Mauser, Krieghoff, Erfurt as well as Martz & Krause... Stop and think about it for a little bit... I pay my money and take my chances, he's always done good by me.... I'll leave it at that.... best to all, til...lat'r...... GT

Artistry IS to be admired, sought and eagerly discussed that I agree with 100%. It's not like we're talking about a Glock here, are we ? I have several and there's nothing artistic about them, other than perhaps their ability to take extreme punishment and still function. The Luger was my Grandfathers and I'd sell every Glock I own before that Luger leaves my hands. I got to take my father shooting for his 87th birthday a few weeks ago and I was hoping the Luger would be completed so it could be shot with our C1896, WWII BHP, P-38 and some other old stuff. Hopefully I'll have it back by his 88th...hopefully he'll still be around.

GT I commend your insight. In lugers it quantity and quality Eugene as did Jonn Marz and one other John Marz! There work is limited and will outlive their legend! G.T. I commend you for taking a second look at life. God has bestows all will inner talents that must be fed daily through pray, love and strenght to succeed at something daily, however so small! For me I chose one of my lugers and really to time admire and look up in my books its' engineering and handling. I survived strokes, surgeries, self abuse and after learning Gods and Debbys healing, I can share wth you "These are a few of my favorite things"

Hi Father Time 63, I hope Eugene gets your items done ASAP for you... If anything like me, I often procrastinate far longer then it would take to just complete the task!... Other time, I have things back in the mail in a few hours.... Always hours, never minutes, as my cost analysis team would go, "Dog crap crazy! if they thought there was a chance to make a nickel on a Luger project.... :eek:.... I often wonder who can/will operate a business like G.T. Specialties at a consistent and repeated loss after I'm gone?.... Hard to do .. time will tell, but in the meantime,good luck to all here... til...lat'r....GT....;)

Sorry for not responding...

We are working day and night to get the 45 guns out before the end of year ...

Will be posting progress pictures in a a day or two.

We planing to start shipping 3-4 a week in about two weeks time,

and hoping to get most of them out before the end of year.
