Grip repair
I have a pair of grips that came on my 1920 Commercial. When I received the gun the grips were cracked and warped. I sent them to one of the guys here and he glued them back together and they look perfect. However, they are still warped where they stand off the frame at front and rear. Would steaming them be the way to straighten them?

I have been somewhat successful using steam to straighten grips. Remember it may well effect the glue line. Using steam you will need some means to slowly straighten them out. Just steaming them without manipulation will only result in a steamed grip. Good luck. Probably the best solution find another set of grips. Bill

Softening the glue joint was a concern. I figured I might steam them
then use a weight on them to flatten them. I have another set of original grips on the gun from a shooter I used to have. They are really nice but I would ultimately like to have the originals fit properly even if I don't use them when shooting the gun. |
It would not be a bad idea to have Hugh Clark look at both the grips and frame for a proper fit.
