1939 Luger

Have what I believe is a 1939 Luger with holster I inherited from someone who was in WWII. What do I need to do, or furnish, to get some idea of its authenticity and value? Thanks, Bob

Welcome,

Read the stickies on how to identify your luger in the Beginner collector area, then post pictures there.

This area is for website help, not luger help.

You'll need to post good sharply focused and well lit photos to get much feedback.

Take the pictures in shaded natural light using a camera with tripod and selftimer / shutter release to prevent camera shake. If it's not in focus, don't bother posting it. Get photos of all sides, and all the major markings externally visible. Take closeups of the markings. Photograph the magazine and accessories as well.

Size them for 1023 pixels on the widest or tallest axis and then upload them to post them using the "Go Advanced" dialog and "Manage attachments".

We have a thorough FAQ document available for free from the site. Just follow the FAQ button toward the top of each page. It will help you understand many things about your Luger.

A 1939 Mauser Luger should be Salt Blued with wood grips and a metal based magazine. If it's a Krieghoff Luger you've got somethiing particularly interesting.

I would move this to the new collector forum if my moderator tools worked...

Post moved to new collectors forum. Not sure why your moderator tools are not working. Please send a PM to John D. to check it out.
