Hi all. A buddy of mine asked me to help him identify a Luger that he is selling on consignment for someone. From my research in Aarron Davis' Standard Catalog of Luger, everything about it points to a standard DWM 1908 Military Dated Luger, pg. 83. Everything is numbers matching, except obviously the magazine. Also, I am sure that it has been refinished as well.
My question is this: Can anyone help me determine the military unit markings on the front strap? That is the one thing that I can't figure out. Thanks! |
15. Ulanen Regiment (lancers), 3. escadron (Luger) #2. This Regiment was part of the XXI. Army Corps and stationed in Saarburg (Lothringen)

Yes It has been refinished. Also the side plate is not numbered.
Edit. I forgot the sideplate was still marked in the bottom in 1910. :o But I still think it was refinished. |
Commercial placement for the numbers for a 1910 luger .
Nice regimental mark !! |
Definitely a reblue. Missing side plate serial numbers indicate commercial.

Wrong! 1908-1910 DWM P08s had commercial type small part numbering. The side plate is numbered on the bottom. |
