Police Holster Modification~
4 Attachment(s)
I was reading Eds' and Dwights Masterpiece on Police Lugers and compared a regular holster with a police holster. Since mine are packed up I'm copying a page from Ed and Dwights' Masterpiece!! Definitly one of my favrite, really! It dawned on me that the police version was made for rapid removal of their luger as compaired to the standard which takes time to unlatch and open~ Books are critical and this is by far my favorite the absolute finest!! A must have in any luger library!

One more observations!! Navy holsters were appear to be used for a short and not a prolonged usage. If a navy luger is stored in a damp environment in a navy holster, they would be destroyed! Secondly the navy holster are not in any way secured often only by only a loose leather flap! They were therefore designed made for quick use removal and not long term storage!!!They seem to be the rarest and its no wonder why!!

One kind of related~What If anything did they use in the trenches to protect their guns and leather?

When the opportunity afforded it I am sure they got whatever cleaning and oiling a soldier would give his weapons in the field, otherwise, nothing. They were often lucky if they could find something dry to wipe them off with.
