Pete, That's something! I sure would like to get a closer look at the X4 mag pouch...Jerry Burney

Jerry, I was wondering, have you or has anyone ever made a reproduction of the quad magazine pouch? If so, what was the going price on it? I really like the one Pete posted. Thanks.
Sid. |
One hell of a grouping! Let's start a forum pool; the member who gets closest to the actual auction sale price, minus premium, wins. I'll send the winner a DWM BB hat. If I win John Sabato can mow my lawn for a month.

Sid, I made myself a three compartment pouch last year just for fun. I have never made a 4 although it could be done. Most of the really unusual items like this I only make one or two, one for my collection. They are incredibly time consuming to pattern and design even though there is a photo to go by. Hard to get the money out of them they warrent. I have had up to 26 holsters on my bench in the last two weeks for repair so I am way behind.....Have all but six done but more keep arriving.
I was going to say $9500.00 but then I remembered the last auction so I guess 14,297.99 Jerry |
I round it out to 15,777.77

$13,650.00

$ 9,850...

George, I hope your good for that DWM hat....Ya got a contest going on here! When is the auction? Jerry Burney
|
Hi Jerry, thanks for the reply. I imagine that it did quite some time to figure out how to make that. Are these pouches rare? What are the originals going for these days? Eventually I would like to pick one of these up so I am just a bit curious as to their worth.
As for the auction, I will but in my guess. I am going to say that it will end at $11,239.00. Thanks, Sid. |
Sid, I would venture to guess the mag pouches that involve more than two compartments are quite rare. The last one I saw for sale was an Artillery X3 and with three mags in it. George Anderson bought it with a matching holster. Really nice but the only one I have seen. They seem to be in high demand and expensive when found. Jerry Burney

Only Ron had to come up with some strange figure with cents. He probably watches 'The Price is Right'!! |
$10,175.00 WAG

Been outta town for a week and come back to find THIS game show going on! ... George thinks he can get me to drive down and mow HIS lawn when my wife has trouble getting me to mow OURS... Sheesh!
If you win George, you get to keep one of your own hats :D and I will watch you mow your yard from your hammock while you wear it :D P.S. My guess is $17,650.00 |
Albert,
I don't watch Price is Right, there are a lot better things to do with my time! The estimate was mostly in jest. Even though I think it is too high, I really expect the final total to top 10 grand. But my original guess still stands for the contest. |
Hello Ron,
Just teasing ya! Unless the market goes soft since the last April auction, this rig will likely go over $10k. How much more over $10k is a good question. Based on the figures so far mentioned, the range look between $13k-$17k. Any ideas how much the magazine pouch is worth, and who made it? Could the (Rock Island) Arsenal have made this magazine pouch while making the holsters? I could be wrong in saying this point, but it does not appear to be US military issue to me. Cheers, Albert |
HI Albert,
I saw a similar triple pouch at the Tulsa gun show last October. It had the same "cross" stitching on the front of each pouch, but it was a triple, not a quad. It was also a russet, brown color. No maker's markings at all. It was nice, had some wear, and looked period correct. The owner thought it to be a 1920's accessory. It held three very minty commerical magazines as well. He had just picked up the ensemble for over $ 1200 (if I recall correctly...). I did not remember this vendor's name, but he usually has the same table at Tulsa. If I go again, I will get his contact info. His table is on the large floor, way past Shattuck and Simpson tables, but not as far as the south, opposite wall... He did sell me the nicest M1900 Swiss insert magazine I have seen... Regards, Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" /> |
Some time in the past I have seen a single mag pouch with that tooled criss-cross design on it, but I can't recall when or where. I also think it probably is non-US or possibly a one-off custom piece. It would seem odd for Rock Island to make tan holsters and then make a black magazine pouch. Unless I saw it with the flap open, I couldn't say for sure that it is even a Luger pouch.
No idea what it might be worth - I wouldn't shell out much unless I knew the provenance on it, and I don't. Someone will probably pay big bucks for it. |
