2 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, thought I'd ask you experts here before I try elsewhere
Being offered to me is this ww1 german helmet. What do you guys think? I know nothing about them but I'd like to have one in my display case next to my luger. Seller said he took it to an appraiser and they said it was worth around $500 Anyone with knowledge of this would be welcome! |

Not sure why they're uploading sideways

$500 is "iffy" but , given the intact chin strap and liner it is worth more than many one sees. Typically original chin straps sell for $150 - $200 regularly on ebay.

It's right as rain. I'd jump on it at $300 - $400.

Not a helmet expert but looks good. Around here $350-$400. Bill

Totally unrelated, but here's how they punched that lid:

The two little "horns" was to hold a piece of armored plate so the mashingun crews was'nt shot in the head. Unfortunatly most allied ammo had so much energy the Germans tended to hurt or break their neck when hit. And lets not talk about having 2lbs of steel attached to your forehead and what that will do to your neckmussels.

Excellent! Thanks guys. Once I purchase it, I'll throw up some images on this thread.
Chicken, very cool! I haven't seen that photo before and I yeah I was wondering what those two little pieces were for. Too cool |
I used to collect German helmets. Fro what I see it is as correct as it can be.
I have see them being sold for 500 Euros at wehrmacht awards forum. If I find one in this condition for 400 USD I would grab it in a heartbeat. By the way it a M16 model, as the liner band is made of leather. Later they became to be issued with metal liner bands (hence being called M17). |
