2nd Range Trip...getting better

1 Attachment(s)
I had my 1938 shooter out to the range yesterday. Still shooting high but the groups are just beginning to get better. I clearly need a lot more trigger time and I think the 124 gr. works a lot better than the 115 gr.

Still shooting high (this is a 7 yard target) but a little Kentucky windage brought it down a bit. (The fliers on the white were with a Sig 250 I was shooting before I shot the Luger. Had it at 10 yards and my first couple of shots transitioning from a Sig 226 in .22 to the DAO 250 is always a bit of a challenge.

I'm really enjoying this gun.

Yes, a definite improvement! ;)

The luger should shoot high at close range; it is sighted for military use ranges of nearer 100 yards, IIRC. Someone can add the original targeted distance.

Members who target shoot and want to lower the POI, use a higher front sight. Member GT is having some made in various heights - just for this purpose.

If you are not using a "six o'clock hold", you might want to try it. That may make things a bit easier for you.

About the 6 o'clock hold....started out with covering the bull...then moved to 6 ....and that's what brought the group down. I think the trigger just needs a lot of time to get used to, it a totally different feel from my Walthers and Sigs. Plus I got two mec-gar mags so I can spend shoot a few more strings with stopping to reload every seven shots.

Might get to the range today....looks like the Luger is going to be the one gun I shoot every trip.

Luger sights were set for 50 meters at the factory.

Roger that; 6 o'clock hold, 50 meters. Looks like you're having fun with that bad boy.
