old school thought has always been (for military) - black was army - brown was air force

some folks believe it just depended on where purchased

--------------
Police - black city police - brown country police

Your holster is what collectors refer to as a "Norwegian Capture."

As for your question to color. The color of the holster has nothing to do with what branch the holster was issued to.
I don't know where this myth was started, but it's pure fantasy. Wartime photos/film verify this.

From the photos I'd say that is a black holster that has just faded.
Photos out in sunlight might help make the distinction.

Many thanks to all for help ,could be either really as I know the Luftwaffe had an air base in sola Norway and obviously Wehrmacht and possibly police also there during occupation , colour is defenately dark brown Inside flap is brown skin and iside where pistol sits also brown ,

Open the holster and look at the interior panel and the tool pouch..whatever color they are is the color of the holster originally. So if it's brown as you say..the holster was originally brown.
