I looked at this gun yesterday at a gun show. It's the real deal. The owner said that he had turned down $6000 cash the week previous. A friend confirmed that a collector had offered the six G's.

Great looking 1902 commercial. Although the "fat barrel" looks kind of "slim" to my tired eyes in the large picture, I'm sure we can trust George Anderson's experienced eye that this is the real thing. And it's less than half the price of that pristine one on Simpson LTD's wonderful website. Tom H. probably could supply the grip safety spring. All of the purported "original" 1902's I've seen (all of three) had the "Cal 9mm" stamped on the wooden clip bottom.

I looked at it again today. Looked good. Anyone interested in pursuing this piece, you can reach them in Richmond at 804 272 3026. Apparently it was a gunshow walk-in last weekend. The seller had some hunting rifles, assorted Nazi stuff and this Luger in a very interesting holster. The dealer has promised to email photos of the holster which I will then send to Jerry B.

It would be VERY nice if the holster was like one pictured on pages 265-267 of Bender's holster book. A commercial holster for a four inch 1902 with leather covered buckle, cleaning rod in separate pouch, original thick loading tool and strawed pin punch, WOW! Would that increase the value of this 1902 commercial!!!

George, If you can remember. My 02 AE Fat Barrel is Germany marked but my 02 Commercial is not export stamped. I didn't think the Commercial models were factory stamped. What did you see?

The Auction Arms charge for their services on a $6,100 sale would be a little over $89. It makes no sense that he'd turn down a firm $6,000 offer and throw it out on AA for $6,100... unless he's convinced that the bidding will go much higher than the reserve or the $6,000 offer is standing and he's seeing if it'll bring more before he accepts the $6,000. I also note that no mention is made of the holster or accessories. Curious.

Agree with you, Doubs, very curious. Perhaps the seller wants to sell the holster and accessories, if available, separately, to maximize the income potential. It would be a shame IMO to breakup such a rig, if it exists. Business is business, but sometimes that is tragic in collector's circles.
