First holster, Crown over I
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,
Picked up my first holster from another user on this forum (From the WTS section) to go with my first imperial, which was also purchased from a user here. It's enroute so I can't show it. I was told this holster is WW1? I'd appreciate if you guys told me what you think of it! I know pretty much zilch holsters. Thank you! |

1918 manufacture by a Sattler in Munich. The crown/I indicates that the leather was acquired by the first Bavarian army corps district which was Southern Bavaria.

Looks fine to me. Appears to be cut deeper in the front but no problem. Bill

awesome, thanks guys. Were certain brands/makers of holsters issued to certain luger manufacturers or war fronts? Trying to find some info on holsters, like books or PDFs or something.
How did you figure the year on this one? |

The Crown over Roman numeral is not encountered until 1918. All that I have seen that are so marked are also marked by the manufacturer and dated 1918. |
Holsters were not issued by manufacturer. They were not issued by trying to match years. Most collectors try and find a holster to match the year(s) of their luger(s). But as stated there was no effort by the Germans to do this. Bill

George and Bill....really great info on holsters. Thanks

yes, thank you guys! Appreciate it.

I'm glad you like it and I'm happy that you bought it off the trader. There are two more nice holsters on the trader for some lucky soul. A nice 1917 dated Luger holster and a minty CZ38 holster.
