Magazine bottoms
 

I've asked this question before. I want to replace a plastic bottom with a wood one. It was advised that I would need the proper tools to do such. I did remove one magazine bottom by tapping out the retaining pin. The one bottom I want to replace is a Triple K with 2 retaining pins. I can see no issues with replacing it with a wood repro bottom except for fitting it to the magazine. I would like to see your opinion please. Thank you

If you have the tools you can do it.
You will need to drill new holes through the current shell holes, as at least one and maybe both will not line up.

When I disassemble a mag, I make things lots easier by reaching thru the follower slot with a pair of locking needle nose pliers to hold the spring compressed, which relieves the pressure on everything else.

I'd recommend a setup that backs up and supports the shell when installing or removing the pin or pins, and is relieved with a hole for the pin to move into, as well as the bottom's knobs, and the contours of the body.

If you're using a drill press for creating new holes in the wood, that's good. Nonetheless, It's a good idea to go only half way, then flip the mag and complete the hole. This will help ensure line-up.
