Yes, although it is a byf (1942) my new Luger is finally at home.
After a long burocratic legalization process ( yes, this side of the sea things take always a long time) the gun is finally with me.

First thing
shooting range for testing the gun: everything OK ( cicled perfectly with both magazines, no jams, good shotting with different ammo). Ammo tested: PRVI Partizan 124 grs FMJ, Winchester white box 115 grs FMJ; TopShot 124 grs FMJ;and a personal reload VECTAN BA9 4,8 grs powder with Fiochi 125 grs round nose FMJ.

First impression was perfect about the gun itself: good handling, perfect flawless shooting. Impressionant for such an "old " gun.

As time is always short for things that we like to do, I cannīt wait for next shooting session.

I must say that the experts of this forum were perfectly right about the relationship between WWB ammo and the P08. Five shots at 25 meters produced a 50 points group with a spread of litle more than one inch. See the target foto.

OK, my "new" 08 is a shooter ( not a collectable). I bought it for shooting ordenanza handguns competitions, so my priority was a gun good for shooting as muchs as necessary and I think that I really got one. Bought at eGUN (Germany).

Next I join some fotos of the piece, so that you may appreciate it.

Finally I think that all that is good deserves good condition case.
At the same place were I bought the gun I found this nice wood box to put things all together:

Looks like a perfect shooter; possible ex-Vopo luger.

Welcome to the board.

Congratulations. These later Mauser made Lugers make excellent shooters. Nice clean bore too!

Extra nice in a fitted case. What was the price range in your area for the case?

Were those benchrest? If you shot that handheld, it's some amazing marksmanship!

Usually if you buy such a box in a new (never used) condition it may cost something like 200 to 300 €.
This one is on a used very good condition ( as you may see) was for 50 € (shipping cost included, cause it came from Germany).

You may find some on sale at eGun.de/large caliber handguns/acessories, some new ,some used good condition, for diferent prices.

No my dear friend: unfortunatly Iīm not that marksman. As it was the very first time I shoot this gun and wanted to test its accuracy I shooted both hands supported by a sandbag.

The only bad thing gun has is the trigger, but I am sure you know that. This one has a pull weight of 2.8 Kg and two stages, the second one with a very long corse. At this time I have the gun at a speacialized gunsmith for putting the trigger in a faire nice and proper condition .

Congrats in finding, and purchasing a good quality shooter Luger. When they work reliably, they are such a joy to shoot, and are scary accurate even with "range ammo". It appears that you hit a home run with your purchase.....enjoy!!

Rupi52, you have a very beautiful shooter and are a very good marksman. I am glad to hear that you are really enjoying it.

Rupi52 and I have talked. And finally met in person.

I think it' s going to be him helping me.:o Instead of the other way around.
He has a chronograph (that I don't. Shamefull isn't it? ). And that will sure help me with my project reloads.

My "new" 08

My luger came back home yesterday from gunsmith officine were it has been working out the trigger.

Now it is this way: first stage regular, than a very small stop and with a little more pressure on the finger it breaks clean.

Pull weight now is a little more than 1,360 kg. This is the minimum legal pull weight for competicions with this gun.

Cannīt wait for next shooting session in range for testing it now in more seriously way.

New charges to test too, all of them with VECTAN BA9 powder and 115 grains FMJ round nose bullets. As 4.8 (already tested)was a very cold charge, I will go for a lot of 4,9 to 5,8 powder grains with 0.1 grain of increment.

I already notice that the ideal loads for this gun will be around the 330 m/s ( something like 1100 feet/s).

After testing I will reporte the results, such as velocities, group sizes and target images.
