Ballpark value - S/39 rig

Hi all,

A local shop has an s/39 Luger for sale that I'm interested in. All visible numbers match and it has 2 mags with it. No import marks. I didn't get many pictures of the pistol (shop was busy and the gentlemen had to attend to other customers) but finish is 85-90% with no serious condition issues. Pics of mags attached, they look like KGs but don't match the pistol. Asking price is just over $2K. Holster appears correct, black grainy leather with P08 stamp on the back. I know that's not much to go on but any estimates as to approximate value would be appreciated.

You are correct about your providing limited information. But then my luger knowledge is limited so I'll bite, and guess the value is in the $1000 - $1,500 range. :biggulp:

Only really nice, rare or otherwise significant pistols will break the $2K mark in this market. More information is needed.

What is an "S/39"?

Sorry, I should have grabbed a picture of that. It was the mark on top of the frame where you would usually see the manufacturer/year.

Are you sure it's not S/42? There's no such thing as an S/39, as far as I know.

The manufacturer code and the prodution year are in different places. On top of the toggle link is the manufacturer logo or code. The year is on top of the chamber.
