Can someone explain to me what models the safety comes up to block the sear from the front ?

In other words it angles to the back when most angle up toward the front . I have googled the images and is it just on models with a grip safety or is there others ?

I know this may be not be a simple answer and it would be great to have a picture .

The grip safety models. There, the blocking part is actually part of the grip safety.

On the models without grip safety, a small safety bar is installed.

An exception is the post war Mauser Parabellum actually has a similar construction on the grip safety and the non-grip safety models, they just cut away a large part of the grip safety, but did not revert to the small safety bar of the original models.

Here you go Kirk, as you suggested, the sear block slopes backwards on grip safety models, forwards on those without grip safety.

So does the lever on a grip safety model just prevent you from squeezing the grip to disengage the safety? Thanks for the pics, maybe a pic of a grip safety model less the left side grip panel.

Yes, that is correct. The lever just blocks the grip safety, which in turn blocks the sear.

I just discovered that the sear bar on a Mauser parabellum is NOT compatible with the safety bar on a P.08. The upper will fit the gun, you just won't be able to engage the safety.

Correct, but you can change the sear bar to the correct style if you
wish.

And there are relieved and non relieved sear bars of each style.:eek:

so a grip safety model would have a spring that would return the gun to safe when it was not held , and where does that spring reside on the gun?


I can't seem to get an exploded view of those models to come up when I google them , sorry for my ignorance once you get something in your mind its hard to get it out :rolleyes:
