Not an MP40 pouch, but an early Bergmann accessory

Reissued in WW2? That would explain the markings

That looks like a postwar Yugoslavian M49 SMG pouch aged and with added markings. I have a couple of them but I don't have pictures. Just google "yugoslavian leather smg pouch" and check out the images. From the way the flaps flower open to the poorly shaped magazine pouches, it screams Yugo. Durable leather but it molds easily. I hope you didn't pay too much for it.

Likely it is hard to keep any shape but that icky stuff grows on it easily I think,
|
Yes, that. HAHA! Mold grows on it easily. Notice how the bottoms of the magazine cells are stitched to keep somewhat of a square shape but the long sides are not molded to have sharp corners. Rather, they are more like loops and are stitched to the rear of the pouch to form the cells. I don't have mine in hand but IIRC, most of the front is one big piece of leather. Yes, I'm 99.999% certain the one shown is post war Yugo. The stamps have been added by a huckster. Unfortunately, not all of these were marked when new. One of mine is and one is not. Also, one of mine is better made than the other. Yugoslavian stuff is notorious for spotty quality control.

For 25 Euros, why not.
Why would they bother with the markings? I'll put it in the oven when I get back home |
