Lugers in Arizona?
I apologize if a post similar is already present, I'm new to forums in general. I was curious as to where I can find Lugers out here? I'm looking mainly for a shooter, and something that's not going to break the bank. Thanks everyone!

Most are going to become available through online sources.
A very large Luger dealer from Arizona passed away a few years ago. Another in your area has had some major health problems recently. Others that live in the area are sure to followup. Online, consider Legacy Collectibles in Pennsylvania, Collector Firearms in Texas, Bob Simpson from Galesburg, Il and CheckpointCharlies.com in Wisconsin. We often list Lugers for sale on this site. These are generally offered at collector (rather than dealer) pricing. Marc |
Marc said it all. I have purchased all my lugers from fellow forum members. Do some luger window shopping! I suggest that you post what you are looking for or a short description! I decide to stay in-house. In each of my purchases, our members they made it possible by accepting easy monthly payments. Who better can you trust? Thank You George for my perfect shooter that I could trust before fireing! Eric

Check out the "WTS" forum or put your own "ad" in the WTB area. |

I was looking through it, are broomhandle mausers that are in firing condition really going for around $500?! I thought they were usually a lot more expensive..? |

The ammo alone is much more rare and expensive!

Usually the best place in Phoenix is at one of the Crossroads shows in Mesa or at the Fair Grounds. There are usually a few for sale at any of these and they are held almost monthly. By far the best place is the SAR building during the 3-day Crossroads show every December. I sold 5 there this year and bought a couple before I ran out of money. PM me if you'd like to talk off line about this.

Murphy's Gun Store in Tucson will get a Luger in occasionally......many times on consignment. The prices are full retail, and they usually don't stay there long. You could call occasionally if you live that far away.

This DWM Mauser C96 ammunition was started to be made in the 1930's for the M1930 and afterwards the Schnellfeuer. In Europe, it sells for about EUR 25-30 a box. Albert |
How and where to get your first Luger is tricky. if you are willing to be patient and methodical, I would suggest buy books and read the forums to become knowledgable, then try the sources listed in post #2 of this thread. I would add that when you have some confidence in your knowledge of the field and prices, you might very patiently watch Gunbroker for weeks; shooters regularly appear there. But - if you are not knowledgable, Gunbroker is risky; I often see people bidding items too high there.
If you are not patient, buy from an established dealer from the list in post #2. You'll pay a bit more but the pistol will be as described. On Simpsons and Legacy, check 'new items' frequently - reasonably priced shooters often sell within hours of hitting those sites. |

Your options are endless! First you must decide if you are purchasing a luger for shooting or collecting. The later your concern is condition, original rarety or virginity. I collected over 20 over 2 decades. Each is still unfired and in the condition that I found it. I finally bought a safe shooter from George Anderson. It is safe, tested and I finally shot a luger. All others are original and will retain the Eric virginity. My suggestion is to purchase a solid safe luger for shooting from a reputable dealer or seller and if you want to start collecting original rare lugers later if you chose. Use this site and Jans' luger site to research. All the answers are there! Take your time! I'm on my third wife but still own my first luger. I am finally content! Eric
