Probably the most beautiful revolver ever built.
I used to collect them; the ones made in the Sixties are particularly sought after by collectors. Thanks for sharing. |
I would say the the earliest guns bring the highest prices. Followed closely by the bright stainless steel variations. Also the few 3" guns made are near $10,000. Other variations are up in this price range as well. A ANIB first year 1955 shipped 3-digit gun recently sold for near $20,000. Here is my 3 digit 1956 shipped gun.

I love those Mauser copies ;)

only had one, sold it and bought my first luger :)
still have the luger - although I'd take a Python in a second, I really like my S&W 686 :D |
I once had a 1966 4-inch Python. Sweetest shooting, most accurate handgun I have ever owned. They wouldn't let me take it along to Viet Nam and eventually I sold it. Sure wish I still had it.

Many years ago I decided that the Colt revolvers just didn't fit my hand like the S&W revolvers did. My shooting showed the same with each handgun, so I just lost interest in the Colt revolvers, as I am a shooter. If the Colts had fit my hand, perhaps I would own as many Colt revolvers as I currently do S&W guns.......I never get it right!!!

My dad has a vintage 6" in SS. I remember when he got it. I broke a rib falling on an 8" SS Python while hunting this year. I slipped and the long barrel allowed the grip to be driven right up under my ribs. The little dangley one let go. Those Pythons are not only very well made, but nearly lethal even when holstered.

apis mellifera..........I laughed at your story, but that is not funny...everything hurts with a broken rib.........Tom
