An Interesting Feature About Artillery Luger~
 

I was reading Jans' Imperial Bible looking up my 1914 LP08 and discovered "The tangent rear sight moves slightly to the left as it is raised to compensate for rotational bullet drift caused by right rifling" I wondered if the same was true in the Navy or Carbine models? Brilliant ~Georg was the Thomas Edison of Luger!

Sorry to pop your bubble, but Georg did not invent the drift compensation in the rear sight.
The phenomenon was known since shortly after rifling was "invented".

Neither the carbine nor the navy have that feature.

It is probably of no consequence in a pistol anyway. JMHO.

Eric, my 1918 Erfurt LP08 adjustable (barrel lug dorsal) sight moves laterally in both directions very slightly. This phenomenon affected my shooting accuracy the first time to the range and until I discovered its existence. I call it being loose from old age. LOL Now I attempt to center it before shooting.

Just adding some rookie humor to the discussion.

The "windage" adjustment on a firearm has nothing to do with ambient wind (unless you are into precision target shooting, which is not a consideration for pistol shooting). The windage adjustment is there to correct the inherent inaccuracy of the pistol or to allow the shooter to compensate for his/her individual sight picture.
