I guess the receiver is cut, but its mostly there?

since its likely not registered, you couldn't bring it back I don't think?

No, it could not be "re-watted or re-built" as a FA, except as a dealer sample.

Looks like it was cut very recently; I'd bet on a recent closet "find" after a GI's demise.

I don't think so, he's actually got two of them. Maybe he has found a whole load of them, and selling a couple at a time to keep prices up?

What a shame that we can't amnesty genuine war trophies. I've seen more than one Maxim 08 and 08/15 that was sent back here to reward bond purchasers. Along comes the GCA of 1934 and now they are forever illegal.
It's enough to bring tears to your eyes, but I guess no worse than is going on all over Europe now.

Typo

I believe this is a M3A1, not a M1A3. No one seems to know how to describe their products these days.

It is actually a mish mash. It has an M3 lower receiver, missing the charging handle, although the internal ratchet is there and a M3A1 bolt, with the finger cutout.
This is also the worst kind of demill, with a diagonal cut clear through the magazine well. This cut was unnecessary under ATF regs and makes the gun much more complicated and costly to rewat.
