About all that's left...

of Ithacagun. I found this pic, which does not show the "S" at the bottom, online, and I will try to post another this winter, when the leaves don't block the view. No more buildings for at least a decade or two, but the old "new" employee parking lot across the street contains a high-rise, rented mostly to college students. Corporate manipulations bled the gun co. dry, selling off its 'Mag 10" design to Remington. The Model 37 which we all know and love is now made in the Midwest, along with a modern 1911. May the directors of "General Recreation" burn in H. E. Double hockey sticks!

Is that your "left" tendency, or have you not learned to straighten a picture?
Or is the chimney really leaning??? :) |

I'll retract my statement about the non-existence of structures that remain from the factory. The tunnel for taking in water from Fall Creek is still there. If one negotiates its dark, watery length, its inlet leads to a level between two sets of precipitous water falls that is otherwise inaccessible. Neat! |

Nice work Don! Thanks for driving up to the Ithaca plant site and taking a photo for us. :D
Most of us on this forum are old enough to experience the nostalgia, and the accompanying sadness, when we see the last decaying remanents of once glorious institutions. Moreover we are loosing far to many historic landmarks. The longer we live the more we see and feel the losses. :( |
