1902 Fat Barrel
1902 Fat Barrel at Egun (Germany)
http://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=6050682 What do you think? Regards Thorsten |
My first impression is that it probably is OK and appears to be in excellent original condition. It is unfortunate that they used some kind of lighting or color balance manipulation to enhance the blue finish color of the gun as it masks the wear making the gun look a bit better than it actually is and makes the interior "in the white" portion of the frame appear to be blue.
Also, the gun is not correctly identified...it is not an American Eagle, it is just a 1902 Commercial, which is much more difficult to find than an American Eagle. Ron |
The pistol looks extremely good, but I would have to say that the finish is so perfect that I would have to suspect that it has been re-blued. I anxiously await others opinions on this pistol... as should you. :)

I would tend to agree. Rust blue just never looks that shiny. Maybe a too-liberal oil coating and the lighting Ron mentioned. but it just looks too bright, overall.

I hate it when they manipulate the photos to the point they look like a pig with lipstick liberally applied. |
Looking at various parts of the pistol and ignoring the "lipstick" lighting I tend to think the gun is original and has not been refinished. I have a mint 1902 AE and the details look very much like this gun.
