Mitchell-Stoeger P.08 mags

https://www.cdnnsports.com/luger-p08...oeger-mag.html

I noticed these $29.95 mags that are listed for a Luger P.08. I am not familiar with this brand. How do they compare to the Mec-Gar mags?

Please share any experience you have with them and school me on this brand of mag. I was considering buying two of them for the range. But before I spend $60, I thought I'd seek the wisdom from the folks here.

Thank you. :)

I think they are on the junky end of things, as far as their construction goes. Nasty spot welds up and down their length, crudely made wood bottoms. IIRC, their springs are a little weak, too. I'd stick with MecGar, which are the same price or cheaper.

I have had a couple stoeger mags, they are as David says; don't buy them , you can get the
"good" Mecgars for the same price or less, you just won't get a "junky" wood base!

One of the police supply places sells mecgars on ebay all the time for about $27 for blue ones;
cheaper if you buy three at a time.

This is a better deal. Probably unbranded MecGar, as they are made in Italy.

I believe you are correct, I bought two- they are just like mecgars, but not marked.

Folks, thank you all for the informative advice. I'll stick with Mec-Gar brand (who dreams up these weird brand names?)

Sometime back, I purchased some CDNN Luger mags advertised as OEM. They have no name or origin stamped on them. They have a plastic follower and a plastic base. They are blued. I purchased 3 of them for $17 each. Of the three, one was a bit oversize and did not slide easily into the mag well. I did a bit of "tuning" to the tube with some emery paper, and it fit fine after that. A second one had one small area that needed a couple of strokes also to correct it....the third was just fine. I touched the sanded areas up with cold blue. They function fine in MY alphabet Luger. I have no idea who made them.

Perhaps these are "seconds" that Mecgar just does not want to put their name on.:confused:

Good thought!!! Could very well be. The welds down the tube are readily noticeable, no so on my known Mec-Gar mags. Another Luger mystery!!

they could be possibly Triple-K factory seconds...

That's because Mecgar doesn't make them that way; the weld on a Mecgar is down the back.

John S. nailed it, could likely be KKK.:eek:

Whatever my 'mystery mags' are, they function o.k. now that they have been fitted!
