C96 "malfunctions"
 

While shooting my M1930 two people asked me if I ever had any “malfunctions”. By malfunction they meant pulling the trigger and the hammer not falling. Neither fellow had their gun with them so I couldn’t dismantle them to see what was happening.

Over the years I’ve seen this “malfunction” with several C96s and wondered what caused it. There seem to be a rather limited number of parts in play. Anyone have an answer?

Springs are always good idea for these old guns.
I think the problem you describe involves the reciever group not fully returning into position after cycling.

I have had a similar issue and springs fixed it.

I have an annoying problem with my Mauser. A few months ago I bought a M1930 from another forum member. While firing the pistol it tends to disassemble itself during recoil. I thought the first time this occurred my hand somehow bumped the takedown latch and caused the problem. I installed all new Wolff springs and switched my grip but it happened again my last range session. Has anybody here ever had this happen with their broomhandle? I'm guessing that the combination hammer pivot pin/ sear/ takedown spring is weak and is the culprit. Any thoughts? MR
