Mac Cat has an album pic that appears occasionally in the Random Album Pictures, as it did today -
http://forum.lugerforum.com/picture....pictureid=3229 Pink Spitfire The RAF painted some Spitfire airplanes a dull pink to make them impossible to spot in a early morning or late evening sky, particularly from the ground, allowing them to fly dangerous low level missions. Coincidentally, I was looking through The Illustrated History Of Fighters by Bill Gunston (a coffee-table book) for my cousin's WW II AAF A-24 'Banshee' when I was struck by the paint on an early Bf-109. Very effective! :) Bf 109 Bf109E-4/Trop of I/JG 27 flies over scrub-covered desert in Cyrenaica in 1941. |
Pink?! Now I never saw that appoach for camo before. I wonder how well it worked. Well, I guess, at least one survived. LOL.
