My old mutt Luger
I had already posted up some pics of my new commercial Luger... I had purchased this one a few years back to use as a shooter and just to own a Luger
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b6...ps24471e10.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b6...psacd1df09.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b6...ps159e76eb.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b6...ps442898f1.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b6...pse481fee5.jpg It's a bit of a mutt with the top toggle coming off of an Erfurt WW1 gun. The lanyard loop had been removed and polished out before it was refinished. There are no import markings although the side cover plate has the common Germany. I've been told it may be an ex police pistol or Vopo rework. The grips are not original. The prior owner said it had black plastic grips (which he unfortunately did not save). It's been reblued (hot blued) but it was done a long time ago and probably when the gun was put together. It wasn't overly expensive and is a good shooter and attention getter at the range. I don't shoot it often, but it works well. |
Everyone needs at least one Mutt! JMHO.
Nothing wrong with a mixed up luger that Shoots! |

Thanks ! I get things that are in my price range and I do shoot them. Sometimes I refinish older pieces. I didn't do anything to the Luger. I also left my original Spreewerke P38 alone.
I find the mechanical aspects of the P08 really interesting. They have a lot of parts but really are not hard to take down even to totally disassemble. I've had a lot more problems with more mainstream guns like those Ruger .22 target pistols. Those are a pain. |

I must confes that the odd time I had to reassemble completely a Luger I was kicking my ass all the time, in fact I'll never ever disassemble competely a Luger any more in my life! :nono: ... but I also add that I must be pretty useless as an armourer... once I had some problems with an AK47 !! |
The only part in the Luger that I find is a pain is the main spring.... The rest isn't too bad. Worst thing on my AK is getting the top cover to snap back on! I had to do some work to fix that. Those little Mauser Model 1910/14/34 pistols are kind of fussy too...
