Newbie in need of ID of a DWM
 

Can anyone help me with this?
All the numbers match, and came with 2 matching magazines. I have no idea what its worth. I tried identifying myself, by the crown over W doesn't match up with the DWM on the toggle.

Welcome to the forum. Your gun was assembled from two different Lugers (at least), both DWM and Erfurt, and at some point was converted for Police use by the addition of a sear safety. If you want to know more, you will have to post clearer photos.

Well, it is reworked for the police, and the magazines are either force-matched or later numbered to the gun. I'm seeing what I believe to be Erfurt marks throughout, but the no-date chamber and the DWM rear toggle link are puzzlers. I'm going out on a limb here and suggesting that it was later assembled from pieces, but will be interested to hear what the others say.
More photos please, including the numbers on the rear toggle.

Need to see both sides of chamber and top/bottom dis assembled for more info.

I'm a little hesitant on disassembly but if it helps identify it further, I'll sit down and watch some videos on disassembly.

Judging from what has been said so far- I'm afraid I over-paid for it
$2400. I didn't know enough about them, but I knew matching serial #'s were a good thing.

You have a re-built/repaired Police used luger.
Frame is Erfurt, Upper is DWM and numbered to match it appears.

Unfortunately, IMO, yes- you overpaid by quite a bit.

But just chalk it up to education costs, and enjoy it.

The magazines I would have to look closer, if 'forced' matched that is one thing, if numbered for the gun by the police, it is acceptable. I am sorry, I am tired and its been a long day...

If its like I think, then yes you paid retail price for a two matching magazine police luger, and most would say too much, but not incredibly.

Definitely not the worst thing I've spent money on- but like everyone, I hate the idea of being had. But to be truthful, I don't think the guy that sold it to me knew what he had either. Glad I talked him down from $2800

Stony, you have a unique and interesting Luger that I am sure you are going to enjoy. Thanks for sharing the photos. After you shoot it, give us a range report.

It is a nice Luger, although a bit of a mixmaster, i.e. bits and parts coming from different pistols, mags included that although they forced to find the same s/n have nothing to do with each other.
It's a nice shooter rather than a collectible, if you'll ever use it at the range stay away from heavy loads.

Welcome to the forum. You are not the first, nor will you be the last to overpay on buying a first Luger!! That "Luger lust" comes into play, and rules the purchase. I did the very same thing many years ago, but now it is worth more than I paid back then, and I have enjoyed it all of these years.

You have a shooter class Luger, which to me, is a good thing, especially for one's first Luger. Learn about it, shoot it, and enjoy it.
