Gun shop sale table find.

Found two Luger magazines at the local gun shop on the sale table .

Have no idea what they are ....:(

1). Aluminum bottom with 1482 on it. Body is unmarked.

2). Black plastic unmarked bottom. on the body : FXO eagle over 37 in two places and is marked P.08 at the bottom.

What are these magazines?

Paid 50.00 for both . Store said they gave them away. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psezwbbltz.jpg

Hi Alex,
The magazine with the aluminum base is a Police mag, 1940/42 vintage, The second, with the bakelite base, is a so called "Black Widow" model and dates from1941/42. The two together are worth about $300.00.

If "they" knew they gave them away, I wonder why they did it?

Great buy for you though.

Also is stamped with P.08 The aluminum one post war? The other one has a small piece chipped of the bottom plaatic piece Can I replace the bottom?

2/1001 is a post war DDR Vopo magazine; yes you can replace the base. FXO is a late WWII German mag.

An original will be tough to impossible to find, a close repro is available.

AT that price, I'd just use it!

Yeah , I will try to find a black bottom for the late war magazine. The FXO eagle over 37 magazines were only made with black plastic bottoms?
The other I will just use to shoot.

Still want to get a correct magazine for this 1938 S/42 or at least close to correct.

If you want shooter mags, consider posting them for sale here and buy yourself Mec-Gars. You'll be money ahead.

That's a nice acquisition for the price!

Your "fxo" magazine with plastic bottom is the more valuable of the two. It makes any 41 or 42 Mauser Luger a "match". Don't modify it. Trade it or sell if to fund your match for the 1938 Luger.

The VoPo was made by Ernst Thalmann on the same equipment Haenel Schmeisser used. it's a VoPo and worth less than a wartime magazine. I think that these are the best available shooter magazines. Changing th base won't make it a "match". It will still be a post war magazine.

I'm a little lost with the two threads you have going talking about a 1938 S/42 mag,
did you ever post your pistol serial and suffix?

I have 1548m, SE/small 63 which should be a correct mag for your pistol.

I'll trade it to you for both of the mags in this thread.

PM me if interested.
