Not all types of Luger holsters had the pull-up strap built in. Such leather "fob" at the back of the pistol would ease withdrawal of the weapon from such a holster, while not interfering with the use of the pistol in any way...

IIRC, the "lifting fob" has Swiss origins. Jerry Burney made a batch...

That short piece of leather was to extract the pistol from the holster, I've seen several Swiss Lugers with it (one of mine has it actually) but so far only one WWII P08, I assume it was mostly used by the Swiss Army. |
