Captain Richard Alkin and his Webley-Fosbery
10 Attachment(s)
Captain Richard Ley Alkin was an O.B.E during WWI. (Officer of the British Empire). He was twice mentioned in dispatches. Attached are Captain Alkin's requests to join the Territorial Force, his medical evaluation, photos of his Webley-Fosbery, and a photo of Captain Richard Alkin himself.
If anyone is interested in a small pdf presentation with more details I would be happy to provide. These are some amazing documents. Joshua |

It is very sad to think that if he were alive today after earning his OBE, that he could not own this pistol of his in the UK. Only option is to cut it up as a demil or sell it abroad. So many historical pieces had to be turned in... sad...

"Captain Richard Ley Alkin was an O.B.E during WWI. (Officer of the British Empire)."
I thought OBE was Order of the British Empire, a military award. Just found this on Wiki: "Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE)" So I guess it's a little of each, depending on the level of the award. |
