Cool serial number
 

Acquired this one yesterday, just couldn't resist a Luger that has "08" stamped all over it. It's not stamped "P.08", but still pretty cool. Great condition and all matching except for the mag, more and better pictures later...

I just picked up a project P08 and the last two didgets of the serial number are the same as the year I was born,
I thought that was kind of cool when I got it

Some quick pictures of the new acquisition. Everything checks out as far as I can see, numbers (except for the mag) match, proof stamped grips, and to me it looks like a 100% legit WWII Luger in great condition.

Missing the takedown lever retainer spring?

Didn't notice that, but now when you say it... Well, I guess I did pretty good if it ain't worse than that. :D

Maybe it's not missing, could be just a broken tip, my 41 BYF is like that for ages, doesn't affect anything.

Yep, that's what it is. I checked it today and you can see it in the hole in front of the trigger. The detent feels good, so it's obviously just the tip that's missing.

And maybe it isn't even broken, but someone along the line just nipped the tip saving himself some aggravation when replacing/reassembling the darn thing. Quien sabe?
