Weimer Police Gun
2 Attachment(s)
Hi Guys!
I don't post here much but perhaps you can help me out. This is what I think may be a Weimer Police Luger from my dad's collection. Dad is elderly and has the onset of Alzheimer's Disease so mom requested I take all of his C&R guns and Antique firearms out of the house, she doesn't like guns. My brother and I are splitting up his guns and he received a very nice 1938 all matched Luger with a capture paper and I inherited this one. That aside, what do you guys think about this Luger? I talked to Ed Tinker about it but pictures are worth more than a conversation. I'd appreciate any information that this forum may give me about this gun since I am not a Luger expert. Let me know if you have questions. It is obviously an Erfurt frame and parts with a freshly numbered DWM toggle to match. Mark P.S. The tag on the gun indicated he paid $50.00 for it "back in the day" |
Nice pancho style pictures -- focuses on key areas, very useful.
Curious,,, are you builder of panchogun.com site? |
Sorry to hear about your Dad's health Mark... Great photos as always... I know you will take good care of your Dad's treasures. Nice Luger...

If you or your brother want to sell the guns, consider consign them to juliaauctions.com in Fairfield Maine, not far away from Boston (about 220 miles, Exit 133 of Rt 95 easily accessible). They are one of the top auction houses in C&R domain, even collectors from Europe consigned guns to them for selling. They have a branch office in Woburn MA, not sure its function, probably C&R can be consigned there... Another big name in the domain is rockislandauction.com in midwest.

Thanks guys!
I've done pretty well on Gunbroker when I've decided to sell stuff. We haven't decided what to do with the collection, I need to go through all the firearms to determine what they are and the value. As some of you may know I have an extensive collection of Axis Pistols so I am going through the easy stuff first :) Not a real Luger expert which is why I posted here. A link to my collection, some of you know me as a moderator at John D's P38 Forum. www.p38guns.com Mark |
Big item, for example, that Walther without exposed hammer in page header, probably should go auction houses so more people could see it and bid on it. It's probably too big for gunbroker.com transaction. That's just a generic feeling on various transaction channels.

I agree but I'm not planning to sell my collection until I retire. The high end stuff may go to RIA the rest gunshows and gunbroker.

Nice photos!
A top view and front frame view would be good additions! |
Mark, Is your DWM toggle assy matching to the rest of the luger. Unusual as the test fire eagles on the barrel & receiver and inspector marked ejector are all Erfurt. TH

It is a police rebuild, a real one. Ed |
Thanks for the clarification Ed!
|
Mark I also think that you need to add the serial number photo of the front of the frame to complete your presentation... Please!
|
With all the talk of auction houses and on-line auctions, don't forget to float for sale items here first. It costs nothing.

But you are correct, perhaps he will offer any items here that are related. |
Thanks guys!
I will post a better photo of the serial number tonight. Also, just to clarify, my brother and I are not looking to sell my Dad's guns. I sell items on Gunbroker from time to time as I upgrade my collection and usually offer them on the P38forum first. I wasn't sure how much of following P.38's have here but will post things for sale as they come up. Mark Mark |

I have finally got around to a photo of the serial number.
Is it a "b" or an "s" or something else? Mark |
My vote is for "s". Check around on the site and you will find renditions of entire suffix alphabets.
|
IMHO, definitely an "s"
|
Lower case, script "S".
|
Thanks guys!
