Magazine safety Police P08
8 Attachment(s)
Recently I came across a Police P08, which still has the magazine safety fitted and working.
There are no unit markings on the grip straps, although there is a 'P' stamped, the same 'P' stamping is also on the chamber. On the bottom of the barrel, just below the serial number is what appears to be a Frankfurt 'G', although the frame serial suffix appears to be 'r'. Finally the red mark for safety on the Frame is something I have not seen before. Stay safe Richard |
See if the mag safety has been cut - a close up of it from a couple of angles could tell us (as its rare to find one intact).
the white dot and the red dot are reminiscent of a P38 - almost sure it is post war - the luger never had a red dot the markings look like Vopo, if so, then the sear and mag safety are usually disabled / taken off Ed |
The photos appear to show a completely intact mag safety. However, the "anchor" portion of the spring in the slot on the frame looks somewhat different from any I recall. It appears to not fill the slot. Over the years, I have seen discussions on the forums about the possibility of replacing missing or clipped mag safeties with intact ones. I don't recall any confirmation that this was done but I wonder if that was a possibility here.

Ed,
Neither the sear nor the magazine safety are disabled, here are a couple of photos as requested. Stay safe Richard |
To me the proofs look like British. Also has been reblued. Interesting anyway. Bill

Don,
Just spotted your reply, here is a photo with the grip removed. Stay Safe Richard |
Bill,
This one is based in Britain, so with our draconian gun laws, it has been deactivated, hence the British deactivation proofs. |
I know of at least three 'replaced' mag safeties and 2-4 original ones.
Not very common to find them intact... |
I have a police conversion 1910, it has the sear safety, but not the mag safety.....Is this normal, unusual....?
|
Nice gun although reblued and with the Birmingham inspection mark if I'm not wrong..
Best. |
