Anyone want Albert Speer's "Artillery" Luger?

Interesting, aside from the misidentification as an "Artillery".

An interesting and beautiful Luger, to be sure.

Wonder if he shot it?

Is there some valid reason for this to be in the for sale section?

DonVoigt 02-15-2016 10:20 PM

Beautiful piece, but where is the connection to Speer? No provenance; anyone can engrave a name in grips!

I seriously doubt a high ranking official would have been given a 1920/1921 dated luger with mixed magazines! A new made Mauser Luger perhaps; but an old luger from a hated(by the Nazis) government of Germany????

Pure fantasy on the Speer connection. Speer was a small man and a high official. IF he ever had any pistol it was no larger than a PPk.

I could see someone getting a fancy gun as a presentation; but I too feel that if anything was given, it would be a brand new weapon or refurbished to the point of no previous markings on it - unless of course it had been 'theirs' in previous years...

I have seen several 'presentation' pistols for sale that I felt were likely not real presentation guns.

BY the way, I moved this to the General section, but can understand why it was put in the for sale area :D

Need to use Speer bullet only perhaps :D

It may be pure fantasy with regard to the Speer connection, but it is a top quality superb example of a custom gun with master level engraving. Did you notice the full length rib on the barrel? That is no hack job. Somebody sometime put some extensive work into creating this piece. If I was rich and had no reservation about spending money, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Nice piece. I guess they had to put Speer's name on it since my Luger belonged to one A. Hitler! :roflmao:

In my opinion it's a work of art, really, but I share Jerry's and other people's point of view about "the story".

It could have been made for Speer, but it was never given to him and he never fired it. Oh, and he never knew about it...

cirelaw 02-16-2016 11:09 AM

Its better off without the association~

It is a beautiful Luger...Speer or no Speer. That engraving was done by a master engraver, and the whole package is excellent in my eyes. I know some folks don't care for engraved guns, but if they are done correctly, they really appeal to me. This one is way out of my league price wise!!

Beware of engraved lugers~~ http://www.leibnitz-online.de/resour...17.09.04-1.pdf

Yes long ago I think posted that piece too, and probably it's a good thing to re-read it sometimes.

Hmm, because the item is for sale and someone here might want to bid on it?

lugerholsterrepair 02-17-2016 11:45 AM

Auctions are prohibited on the for sale section.. This is the "for sale" part of the Forum. NOT an "alert to any auction on Planet Earth section" It is meant for the use of our Members who have items they would like to offer to other Members. It is REQUIRED by our rules to have a set price. It IS NOT an auction. Your post violates all of these precepts. Please read the FORUM RULES you agreed to abide by.
