Confirm Military Luger
 

Just wanted to confirm what I already know about this military Luger.

It is a 1914 Military version manufactured in 1917. Everything is original except the magazine. The only thing I didn't like about it was the rust pitting on the right side of the barrel. I would like to know more about the proof marks on the right side of the slide.

It is a 9MM Luger that fires perfectly. I took it out once just see how it fired.

Looks like you identified it properly. Is it all matching?

You can stabilize the rust using oil soaked 0000 steel wool to gently remove the red oxide rust. Don't get too aggressive... The rust typically happens when the Luger is stored in a holster for an extended period.

The magazine is likely a Haenel Scmeisser manufactured milled magazine, and these are very good magazines. Either WW-iI or post WW-II VoPo manufactured. I'd have to see the magazine to be sure.

You'll need closeups of the markings to get any details about them. Take them in shaded natural light using a digital camera with closeup setting and a tripod to steady the shot and get it in sharp focus.

The markings are typically inspector acceptance markings and proof testing markings added as the pistol was completed. They would be imperial markings, with lettered acceptance stamps.
