luger safety bar

Sirs. I have a DWM Luger no marking looks like all matching except the mag.3" barrel the question is the safety lever works with no retention should there be a spring somewhere.Works when safe position Has a crown over N and a (l) marking after serial # any help Please Thanks

Safety bar is connected to the lever, spring tension of the lever holds itself into the detent holes in the frame.

I'm not exactly sure what your problem is?

Safety lever pin is missing or installed wrong or broken.

pictures would help

Luger barrels are at least 3 5/8 and even if measuring funny, should be over 3 inches :)

I had this problem with my 1900AE. There was a buildup of hard crud under the lever, which kept the lever (it acts as its own spring) from engaging the cut in the frame properly.

I had to strip the frame down and drive the pin out of the frame (from the inside) to get the lever out and scrape away the crud. When put back together, it worked admirably.

I'm am lucky it was so simple to fix, as I am mentally challenged.

SD, Sometimes the lever itself requires some judicous bending to require additional tention. TH

I had this problem with a '30s DWM and fixed it with a careful bending of the safety lever.

Short, I took the upper off afraid to go any more.don't know what I am doing. Then you had best not do it. It CAN be done by the average handy guy who is familiar with the Luger and it's workings but it's a disaster waiting to happen if you are not handy.
