DWM c-96 stripper clips

I have 2 loaded stripper clips here but I have no idea when or where I got them. They are both brightly nickel plated, new looking, and are marked "DWM" on the spine, with no other marks noted. Block letters, not scroll. Both are loaded with 10 rounds of what I suspect to be .30 Mauser, FMJ, with a headstamp of "11" on the top and "57" underneath.
Are they of any value, or should I just use the stripper clips to feed my C-96?
Thanks!

Could you post pictures ?

Without clips, loading this type of gun is very awkward. You don't use clip to load?

Yes, I have a half-dozen that I use, and re-use, and re-use. But then I only shoot the broom 1-2 times/yr. I'll work on photos.

I bought a half dozen of these same type of DWM clips, I think I sold a couple of them for $15 or $20 each ?? But they had ammo on them still - although I can't remember how old the ammo was.

I want to say that I was told they were 1930's time-frame

You have legit 7.63 Mauser strippers, but the ammo is Chinese 7.62 Tokarev fodder, from 1957.

In recent years, some original surplus DWM 403 ammo boxes of 1930s with pink labels were imported from Mogolia. Mongolia is a very dry place, so those ammo boxes were well preserved. Some C&R dealers listed those for sale in the past, including Simpson, Checkpoint, Ohio Trader etc. Also listed gunbroker.com from time to time.

This DWM marked clip look different from the clip from those pink box though -- the stamping of "DWM" looks different. The clip from pink box has very sharp and shallow stamping. The clips on 2nd and 3rd pictures should be aftermarket. The clips on 3rd picture look better.

Pink box sample: http://www.checkpointcharlies.com/ec...mmo-boxes.html

But those pink box only represents a period. Does all DWM clip look like that? I don't know. Probably not. Numerous bare clips also appeared on market in recent years,,,, on gunbroker.com, on ebay.com etc.

If want original clip and ammo box, pink box is a good candidate. $35-$45 per box does not sound cheap, but that's by today's new ammo standard. In history, one round of DWM could exchange 7 lbs of rice or 35 chicken eggs in Asia back in 1930s. By selling these surplus, Mongolian did not make any money, they lose money. US importers and retail dealers make some money, but price is still reasonable.

I have several of these clips too. I'm also undure of thrir age and origin. I acquired mine sometime in the early 1990s, but there was no ammo onthem.

Alvin: I only have 2 and all 3 photos are of the same 2 stripper clips. Thanks all!

A typo. The clip on the 4th picture looks better.

I have a pink box clip. The DWM stamping style looks different. Another one is BKIW which came without ammo box. But these two only represents one period.

It's just a simple clip. Those German clips work well with Fiocchi "black box" ammo -- cartridges won't fall out of the clip while loading (a common problem that we see frequently in youtube.com shooting videos). A small video shows this combo: DWM clip + Fiocchi ammo + Mauser. It's very easy to use:

I believe that Sarco an others were selling these spurious DWM and BKIW marked chips 10 years ago in their ads for around $5 each. Most of the original C96 chips that I've seen were marked DW in a circle or BP for the Swiss ones. TH

Here is the DM clip, BP clip, and Chinese clip. BP's quality is slightly lower than DWM. But still works.

What does not work is Chinese clip -- looks like its function is simply an ammo binder, and cannot perform as a loader -- it's very hard to push even a single round into magazine well using Chinese clip, let alone 10 rounds.
