new MacGar magazine
 

Purchased a InterArms Luger and had trouble with stovepiping. Got a new MacGar magazine to see if that would help. New mag will not stay locked in. New mag is thinner, .445 in vs original mag. .470. Any suggestions?

I am interested in buying a Mecgar. I would pay $30 shipped. Sorry but I have nothing for an Interarms...

Is your new magazine one with the polymer follower or is it metal?

My metal follower Meg-Gar works perfectly in several of my Interarms Parabellums.

I've not had a problem with any mag not "catching", but then I don't have a '70s Mauser.

I'll have to measure some mags and see how the "run".

I do/did have a metal base Mecgar that was a tight fit in most of my pistols; I sent it to GT to
reform to fit better! It was likely just what you needed!!!!

Plastic follower MecGar won't work in Disco Mauser.

I have had a couple of mags over the years that did not want to lock into the mag well of my Interarms Parabellums or P08 Lugers.. On examining them closely, I found a burr or incomplete cut on the hole where the mag catch enters the mag. I couple of passes with a good needle file in the mag hole solved the problem.....piece of cake!! You might want to look at your mag and see if this could be the problem.

Sieger et al, I do have several original Mauser Banner marked Parabellum left from my purchase of all the left over Parabellum parts from Interarms, when they went out of business: As new @$100 or lightly used @$75 + $10 insured priority S&H on either. Tom

I have several of the Mec-gar magazines. I took my 1971 Mauser Parabellum in 9mm out the other day to shoot. Two of the mags were the nickel finish with the steel follower, the other 2 were nickel finish with the plastic follower. All rounds fed flawlessly thru all four magazines.

The last four mags that I bought had the plastic follower and I was somewhat disappointed to say the least. I am glad I finally fired some rounds with them and my doubts were not justified...............:)

Unless there is a dimensional difference between the plastic followers and the metal ones, I can't wrap my head around why they would work any differently. It seems to me that brass on plastic would be even more slippery than brass on steel. What does the follower do, anyway, other than push up on the stack of rounds (pressure dictated by the spring) at the correct angle, and allow the last round to slide off smoothly? Has anyone swapped metal for plastic, or vice-versa?
