Bob Taylor (nukem556) has left the range.

It is with sadness that I must report the passing of Bob Taylor who went by the screen name of nukem556. He was 57 years old.

Bob and I were on the state rifle team together for several years and shared a hut at Camp Perry on a few occasions. Bob was a Distinguished Rifleman and I'm pretty sure he made the Presidents 100 too. He had a wicked sense of humor and his nickname in our little circle was "King of the one liners". There have been several humorous remembrances about Bob posted on our local forum over the last several days.

In October, Bob got to feeling poorly and went to his doctor. After some tests, the diagnosis was lung cancer that had spread throughout his body and there was nothing that could be done. Bob was a heavy smoker.
They basically sent him home to "wait it out". I found out about it last week from a mutual friend that was also a rifle team member. He lives in the same metro area and went to see him in the hospital a day or two before they sent him home. He declined rapidly and passed away last Wednesday, a week and a half after leaving the hospital.

His wishes were to be cremated and his ashes spread at the gun club where he was a member. Waiting for word on when this is going to happen.

Rest in peace Bob.

Dale, Sorry to hear of your Friends death. I lost 7 close Friends last year and losing a few more as we speak. 57 is WAY young though. May the old marksman rest in Peace...

Reminds us that we are fragile and time is short. 57 is way too early.

It always hurts to lose a close friend, and 57 y/o is very young for this day and age of medicine. I have lost two very close friends this year, and both were younger than myself....it really makes one think about things.
