Its from the training squadron of the 15th Reiter Regiment weapon #3.

A (Ausbildungs Squadron) / R.R. (Reiter Regiment) 15 (Regiment) 3 (weapon number).

What flavor of Luger is it on?

Not sure. This is the only photo sent to me by the owner. I'll inquire and post additional data.

So far I have been informed that the pistol is a 1917 dated DWM.
I will add a serial and suffix, should the owner choose to provide it.

Thanks for the follow up. I am a little surprised it wasn't a "double date."

Ausbildungs marked Lugers are some of my favorites. The training squadrons were made up of the best of the best in the Regiment. Usually the battle hardened and the most experienced of the lot.
