Flea market

I feel that we need to keep this forum for what it was intended, predominately lugers. It can get much like gun shows we have all attended. They look more like a flea market. As a result gun people avoid them. I feel this forum is the best there is but we need to work to keep it that way. It is not a forum for copying magazines concerning God knows what. It is not a forum for endless discussions of other firearms. Nothing wrong with other firearms, and generally they are interesting, but lugers should and must dominate. We do not need a post number contest. I am not picking on anyone - just an old man's observation. When you have the best we all need to keep it the best. And now it's time for my warm milk and prune juice. Bill

I agree. I am in fact pruning quite a few of my own threads/posts. It's been pointed out that I post way too much and most of my posts are way off-topic. :)

I'll try to confine my posts to Lugers forthwith. :)

+1 me too.

Well, there is this particular subforum right here for "off topic and other firearms".....as long as any posts not directly related to Lugers are confined here, I don't see a problem.....this is one of ther best gun forums out there, I think.

Just don't try selling beef jerky or knife sharpeners here....I think that would be pushing it.

I agree, with two exceptions

General Info - Eric posts here, and he agreed that generally he will post into one thread. I feel this is acceptable and interesting ' IF ' you don't want to read it, please skip it.

Other firearms - I do feel that this is what it is designed for, however, it is much better if the items are WW1 or WW2 related IMHO

However, this IS John D's forum and I am always aware of that - if he decides 'whatever' I will follow his lead, as he is gracious enough to pay for and keep this forum alive this many, many years.

Ed

Sheepherder,
I don't know what Bill meant or was referring to; maybe just having a bad day?

I do think you are over reacting, I find your threads interesting, informative, and sometimes amusing- I always look forward to reading them.

Even the ones without answers can be informative.

Rather than delete threads with links to expired auctions, just leave them please, even without pictures they are helpful.

Change of subject:
Links: I DO wish we ALL would not be lazy and post links that we know will disappear in a week or a month or sometime; just post the pictures on the server here. PLEASE! That way they are preserved and of more value in the future.

JMHO.

Edward Tinker 11-11-2015 07:14 PM

yes, I hate it when Rich starts deleting his threads...

wlyon 11-11-2015 07:35 PM

I did not intend for anyone to delete anything. I am not in charge of anything. Just felt we were drifting from the forums original purpose. And Don I was not having a bad day. Just another day in beautiful Montana. Only my opinion which I assume I still have the right to. Have a nice day. Bill

but, but, everything i know about belly dancing i learned on THIS BOARD from Zormpas .....................

lugerholsterrepair 11-11-2015 10:29 PM

I agree with everyone..Even as a moderator I come across posts of little interest on every Forum I go to. I enjoy many posts that are not necessarily on topic per se. Even Luger posts. Some Lugers I have a great deal of interest in..others not so much. So..I pick and choose what I spend my limited time reading. Emails are much the same..I get a LOT of them. I delete a LOT of them without reading because I have seen them before or the subject is of no interest. Just a fact of life on Planet Earth I guess. As long as we're bellyachin..I detest gravity. I think it might have something to do with the condition I was diagnosed with. Miners disease. It's a fairly serious problem and gravity is only aggravating it. Seems I have silver in my hair, gold in my teeth and lead in my ass. Hence the gravity problem. I LIKE Luger's! There. Ease up..have some fun. That's what it's about isn't it?

I will limit all my posts to my specific section to avoid any confusion. I am thankful to you all for the privilege! Eric

Luger collectors have been relatively inactive this year.... not only here.

I'd like to post on Lugers, but I don't know what to say. You guys know Lugers well, please post.

P08Leder 11-13-2015 10:11 AM

Sorry if I contributed to this rant in some way.
I have posted non-Luger threads, but all in Off Topic
where I figured those who are not interested will not go there.
I also assumed that Luger collectors would be interested in WW2, not just the guns.

In my case WWII; WWI; military history and history in general.
