Anyone have experence with IGB Austria?

I am considering ordering a 9x19 barrel for my Steyr Hahn from IGB Austria. Based on their website it looks like they only need a copy of my driver's license to ship to the US. Does anyone have experience with the company or importing gun parts from the EU?

I would also be interested in this. I contacted IGB about this a few months ago, and they said that you have to buy them from their retailer in the US:

24hour tactical / John Yuzamas
Auburn Washington
Email: john@igbaustria.com or john@24hourtactical.com
Phone: 253 380 0330

Have been eyeballing their 9x19 barrels, but I would really like to hear from someone who has bought it first. $299 plus shipping is pretty darn expensive, so it better work.

I have lots of experience importing guns and parts from Germany and Switzerland. The controlling authorities for the importation of complete firearms, firearm frames and receivers, firearm barrels, and ammunition, are 18 U.S.C., Chapter 44, the GCA, and the implementing regulations in 27 CFR, Part 478. Long story short, you cannot import a barrel for a modefn firearm without an import license. Note that there is a $5 fee and a mandatory U.S. Customs inspection applying to any import shipment with declared value over $100. In short, caveat emptor.

Ollie and Micheal,

Thanks for the information. I will contact the IGB US retailer and get this rolling. The high price tag of the barrel does not deter me because I have a stockpile of 1930's vintage 9mm Steyr ammo that I bought for nothing, and it now has "collector" value. The plan is to sell the ammo to pay for the barrel, and still come out ahead.
