Wups, my mistake! There seems to be an RIA auction going on this weekend! Nov 6-7-8 2015!

Online Only Auction begins at 9:00 a.m. CT 6 Nov 2015

Thanks Sergio!

Another one coming up on December 4th-5th-6th 2015...

That one is a "Premiere" auction, no big catalog, just the 16 page flyer...I browsed the Dec online catalog yesterday; nothing there I can't live without...

No state MG license yet. Otherwise, those Schnellfeuers are interesting.

I've got a Schnellfeuer (Mod. 1932/712) unfortunately here where I live there is almost no market for "broomhandles".

Unfortunately, Beijing government has not opened C&R collecting. Otherwise, I bet a Schnellfeuer like yours can easily sell a new BMW 5's price :)

Curious on Italian gun market.. Three questions:

1) Complex local laws constraint Schnellfeuer's trading?
2) What's the price range for a decent Schnellfeuer sample?
3) What do people usually play on "old gun" domain?

Sergio Natali 11-08-2015 03:59 AM

Alvin,

1) laws regarding arms trading are not too strict.
2) the price of a good 1932/712 should be around 2000.00/2500.00 USD but collectors here are very few, and broomhandles collectors are almost non-existent.
So no request = very low prices, hence who's got a nice piece doesn't sell it.
3) I think here there are people that gather (I wouldn't know how to translate it) old guns without value, while real collectors are few and fewer still are really experts.
That's why it's important for me to be part of a Forum like ours and take part to other forums (1911 for example), as there is always a lot to learn.

Best regards and have a nice Sunday.

No wonder Sturgess shipped his collection across the ocean to sell here :)

M1932 for $2k - $2.5K is dirt cheap. Transferable Schnellfeuer sell easily in the US for over $10K, and occasionally I saw them sold over $20K in auctions.

But no worry, in market trading, buying and selling price are not unrelated. As long as those two price tags are balanced, there is no problem at all. No matter it's $2k gun or $10k gun.

I'm thinking about applying a permit for MG next year, but I have not made up my mind yet... due to that's another world in the US context.

One new trend in the US is also "people gather old guns without value". For example, part donors are hot these days (no collector value, but they could donate factory parts, so still very useful). They attract quite a few bids, for example ... extra 15% to 20% BP is not included in the price on the right side yet, but these lots already went 200% to 300% of high estimation yesterday. Very hot!!

But return to this RIAC December session. I feel there is a problem with this session. For a few items I am looking I got this feeling -- the quality is not top, but the estimation is not low. Not being a keeper is OK, trader has trader's market, but trader price should be very modest to be attractive for short-term play.
