Replacement barrel- Norwegian? or ?

These markings, E over PS are on the barrel of a 1940 Mauser P 08.
The receiver/frame match, but the barrel is replaced and the toggle is a mismatch, but also Mauser S/42.

It has been suggested that this is a Norwegian replacement, which could be - the pistol did come with a Norwegian modified holster.

I was also suggested it could be post WWII Porutguese.

Any info/comments/ ideas?

thanks.

I don't think it to be Portuguese.

Thanks Kurusu,
So far I have information linking it to post WWII Norway.

E/PS seems to be a Norwegian marking for replacement barrels.

Would like to find a documented reference , so will keep looking and asking.

Looking at the picture zoomed, I'm not so sure if that "E" is really an "E".

Waiting for the "real" experts to drop by.

Depends on how you look at it,
I first thought it was something else.

But at the right angle I'm convinced it is an "E".
It appears that it was struck at a slight angle, with the upper right
arm deeper than the lower left corner.

But then, I've been wrong before!

These barrels and answers came up not that long ago. I'm just terrible at researching threads.

I found one post on the very same subject from 2013.

Can't remember how to link it.

Just bumped it up.

It's in: All P-08 Military Lugers/odd barrel markings.

Thanks guys,
these markings have come up here and the other forum a few times.
Consensus is that they are Norwegian replacement barrels.

I have yet to find an on line or written reference confirming same.
