Luger on Gunbroker

I don't really mean to pick apart other people's guns, but not much adds up on this one. Thoughts?

No worry. Good gun should not worry talking on top of table. Under table subjective talking is bad, but on table objective talking is OK IMO. Why is this particular one interesting? What's its selling point?

I agree completely. After looking closely at the fuzzy photos and noticing the condition of the bore which he says is "like new" but obviously is well worn, I must agree with the gentleman that posted the negative comments in his feedback. Certainly not a high end pistol.

Most of the threads are informative, a few others are hilarious, like this one...

David,

...What Rich said...and some more arithmetic. Looks media blasted and buffed to me. "Milspec" and no chamber date? Bad repro holster with bad repro tool. I guess poor "Luger15" misses out on this one.

DavidJayUden 10-11-2015 02:31 PM

A few issues that caught my eye were it being a Mauser banner gun with no Mauser hump but strawed parts. No date. Also does having the suffix on the left side of the receiver make sense? Lots of "I don't knows" on this one, but the bore, the holster and his verbiage does not add up. But then other than the S42 guns, I'm pretty much in the dark on the Mauser Banner stuff. I wish the photos matched his bloviating...
It's an interesting conversation piece so long as my money isn't involved.

dont see letter suffix on side of receiver with ser numerals. why this one has it?

aldo35 10-11-2015 04:27 PM

I have asked seller to post pictures of front strap with serial # and toggles. Strange descriptions. I looked up dorsum and wonder what it is any ideas?

Well, the dorsal fin of a shark is up on the top, so I suppose he means the top...

I don't know, it seems out of place, but I didn't want to reveal my ignorance...Ron & Jerry love to jump on my ****...

Google shows Dorsum to be the upper side of an animal, right where the Mauser Banner should be.

Ron Wood 10-11-2015 05:20 PM

r.e. "dorsum"...I don't know about the gun, but I am reluctant to beat up on the guy because he has a command of the language! :)

You're right, I'd not pick on him just on the basis of his vocabulary. However his honesty and knowledge of his product is another story.

hmmm, I don't always doubt their honesty just because they are un-luger-educated

alanint 10-11-2015 07:02 PM

I would also lump those grips into the doubtful category.

You are absolutely right that we should always give the uninformed the benefit of the doubt. But you have to admit that the list of questionable features and statements is pretty long.

Also, for my info. were there models with the suffix stamped in this fashion on the left side? Sure looks original. Also, were there Mauser Banner guns in the pre-1937 era?
Thanks in advance.
