Help Identify this gun please.

I would like to know if anyone can help identify the Luger I am considering buying. I can verify through ownership records that the previous owner is a WWII vet. All of the numbers on the gun match the last two of the serial number, however, there are no German markings on the gun, no Nazi symbols, and no mark on the top of the breech. No date is present either. On the trigger guard is a mark which appears to be either some kind of Arabic or Czech, I'm not certain. A couple of locations on the gun have a "N" mark with what appears to be a star within a circle. The gun is in fair condition, but I haven't been able to get any pictures yet. The seller is asking $400 for it. Anyone have any input?

I forgot to mention there is a mark under the barrel that says 7. Something. Its barely legible.

Sounds commercial, and $400 is a great price for any Luger that is functional. But that's as far out on the limb as I'll go without photos.

+1!

At this price it would be difficult to go wrong. Pics may reveal more, probably in your favor...

Is there an "N" on the forward left side of the receiver? If so, is it horizontal or vertical?

John Sabato 08-20-2015 02:44 PM

If this gun is shootable... the price is a steal.

Ok, I got some pictures but cannot get them downloaded for some reason. Still trying.

The owner is saying he just fired it for the first time yesterday and it jammed after one round. I'm thinking it has something to do with the fact that it may need to be cleaned.

And the N is horizontal

Looks to be .30 caliber, a commercial gun, replacement grips, and well used. The trigger guard marking may be Farsi(?), but that's a W. A. G.
I'd suggest that you buy it and we can ruminate over the small stuff later...

The trigger and magazine release appear to be Erfurt. Is the trigger numbered internally?

The Farsi marking may prove to be very interesting.

+ 1

Four hundred is a steal!

The land marking is a bit odd...But the C/N is a commercial proof...

Buy it !!!! No way you can go wrong. Bill

Ok. Bought it! Thanks for the input everyone. If anyone knows more about approximate age or origin I am still interested in learning more about it. I had it apart and the trigger is stamped as well. She needs a good cleaning. What about this "Farsi" mark?

Edward Tinker 08-20-2015 07:09 PM

The newest it is, is 1945 and since it has DWM, and if original, then before 1935

Check and see if it has matching parts or mismatched, as I think a parts gun since its a commercial since it has so many parts with numbers. Which is normal for an army or police, but it has so many commercial marks.

The marking of 7,65mm - I would say it is from another country but then where :)

$400 is a very good buy for any working luger and jamming, well that could be the magazine, the ammo used, a lot of things.

Congrats!
