My 1942 Mauser Police Luger
 

This is the first Luger I've owned. Always wanted one but they were generally more than I wanted to pay. Found this luger a cheap price but it was plated.

I stripped the luger of all plating and reblued her to get the look I wanted. I know the bluing isnt what it was originally but I figured that ship sailed when someone plated this gun.

Ive had issues with the gun not cycling (bad main spring), then failing to reliably eject (ejector not having enough tension), and finally the gun going full auto (weak trigger bar spring).

Now I finally can shoot her with three mags and no failures.

Ive had a lot of fun figuring these things out, maybe someday Ill have the gun restored. But I like my shooter

Much improved, I'd be happy, too. Restoring this would be difficult due to the buffing that was done, presumably before plating, so likely not a good investment in that sense. But it's looking pretty spiffy now, regardless of the soft edges!

Hmmmm...A plated Police Luger...That's unusual... :)

How did you remove the plating??? Was it nickel or chrome???

Electrolysis, used a plating company local. Took 5 minutes in the tank (parts) and all the chrome was removed.

I purchased the gun cheap, and I wanted a shooting copy. Im happy with it right now. Maybe someday Ill restore it, but people want more to restore it than I paid total for how she sits now

No matter how much you spend on a restoration job, it is money wasted in the end. Enjoy it as it is and buy one you want later.

It looks like you have a good looking shooter Luger.....just the way that you want it. There is a lot to be said for that....I think. Shoot it and enjoy!!
