What is this luger?
Hi All,
Saw this on GunBroker...I am not considering a purchase; but, I was curious as to what it is and if it has been re-blued. Luger. |
Don't know who did it. But this is a typical reblued gun. Only thing seller can argue being "it is done by arsenal", could be, it's old refinish.
|
What about the markings...Turkish?
|
Not like Turkish. Picture 19 shows a flaming bomb with S (?) inside. This should be a rework stamp, but I have never seen it before.

Belgian proofs.

Interesting gun. No date on chamber, reblued but not buffed out. Replacement extractor. Could those marks be pressure test proofs, like we always see on UK guns? It would be niece to see all the script with the markings on the barrel. Also, I'm curious if there are any remnants of a suffix on the frame. It would be an interesting gun to get our hands on...

The gun has been both buffed and reblued. There are too many rounded edges which should be sharp.
The small parts have also been blued, and should be strawed. The numbering on the takedown lever is not the same font as the rest of the gun, most likely a replacement. The chamber area has been scrubbed before the "flaming bomb" stamp was applied. I see no evidence of a suffix letter on the frame in the photos. The muzzle is blued and not in the white There appears to be a buffed down import mark on the bottom of the barrel above the third "flaming bomb" stamp. The magazine markings are 'interesting' but I don't think that the mag has anything to do with the gun except feed cartridges. This gun is just a shooter grade example IMHO. $600-$800. Certainly not what the seller is asking. Just my $0.02 |
The "flaming" bomb is the Belgian proof mark, it does (usuall) have a letter inside.
It appears to have been applied to the ressue bearing parts, i.e. barrel, chamber, frame, etc. |
Standard Belgium proof house marking for non-Belgium made guns that they proofed. TH
|
The proof has an "L" inside, I believe this is Belgium's Liege proof house.
