Completely different...
Can't help it, this is one of the coolest things I've heard in a while...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAEmpdSHC10 There's several different years of this on YouTube but somehow this one sounds the best. I listened to recordings of 2014 and 2015 and this still sounds best. If there's a better version somewhere I'd like to hear it. Enjoy, Jerry |

I'm not American but that choir gave me the creeps! Really beautiful. Sergio |
Sergio, "the creeps" does not have particularly good connotations (e.g., a "haunted house" or something distasteful, weird, or dangerous)...but I know what you mean. A "chill", "goose bumps", or--from the French--"chicken skin". It happens when we are moved by music with emotional associations!

That "tune" can still bring a tear to my eyes!!

Sergio... that song has ALWAYS given me "goose bumps"... and frequently makes my eyes wet....that version may be the most powerful one I have ever heard.
Those of you who have never been to Baltimore, Maryland, should plan a trip to Fort McHenry where the battle was fought that Francis Scott Key witnessed and the events of that battle were used as the basis of our National Anthem. Conehammer, thanks for sharing! About ten years ago, I was privileged to visit Fort McHenry, and to be chosen from those in attendance to assist in lowering Old Glory at the end of the official day. It takes about 50 to 100 people to catch the flag as it is lowered and keep it from touching the ground as they put it away for the night. Immediately thereafter, a smaller flag is raised so our flag flies there 24 hours a day. |
