1918 dwm

I have a 1918 DWM SN:9273 e. It has the following marking (enclosed attachment) It does have a sear safety but no police markings. If they went to the trouble of installing the sear safety would they not also designate a unit to the gun?

Not necessarily. During the Weimar era, most state police units put property markings on their weapons but many local police (e.g., Gemeindepolizei) did not. The markings on the right side are typical acceptance and proof marks for 1918 DWM P08s.
